Ahould I feel ashamed to barely be learning to roller blade at 21?

My mom asked, "aren't you embarrased when you fall...for people to be seeing such an older tall ladie falling on the street?" Her philosophy is that perhaps it isn't lady-like and nevertheless something I sould be doing at my age. However she never let me do it when I was younger so now Im trying to learn. Whats your opinion?

Ahould I feel ashamed to barely be learning to roller blade at 21?
Your still a kid, what the hell are you talking about. Besides you shouldn't feel ashamed of anything as innocent as rollerblading.

Here's a tip on rollerblading. Bend your knees a lot. Don't stand straight up. The lower you are to the ground, the less it hurts when you fall. Don't use the brake! Use the T-Stop Manuever. As a matter of fact take off the brake completely or you will never learn how to skate.
Reply:A 92 years old lady graduated from college with honors. Was she embarressed? Maybe from the standing ovation she got. Was she proud? You bet! Are you proud for trying? Hope your answer is "You bet!".
Reply:Don't feel ashamed about it. Rollerblading is a task learned through practice and experience, and has nothing to do with age.
Reply:Uhh...I'm 29 and I've never rollerbladed. (Tried the old original roller skates, fell a lot, went to go play video games instead. :P)

And I can't ride a bike either! So there! :P
Reply:Your mom is wrong. Do what you need to do.
Reply:Absolutely wrong. I respect you for going out there and doing it. I have a friend who couldn't ride a bike until she was like...12. Everyone laughed at her. (except me of course) Definately go and learn, and forget the people who make fun of you, they don't get it, trust me.
Reply:No you shouldn't feel ashamed.

I didn't learn to roller blade until I was in my mid 20s

I didn't learn to scuba dive until I was in my late 20s

I didn't learn how to water ski until I was 29

I didn't sky dive until I was 32

I will learn how to surf and kite surf later this year right before I turn 33

I plan on learning how to ice skate, ride a horse well, snow ski, snow board and a bunch of other stuff as the years go by

Sure there are younger people doing all that "extreme" sport stuff. You still have the ability to learn and enjoy new sports so take advantage of that because one day it'll be easier to break a hip than to try and lean some new sport.
Reply:sure go ahead. never late to learn sumthn new!
Reply:Go ahead and learn! That's what life is all about! Try something new every year of your life. It's great! 21 is a YOUNG person, NOT an older lady. I've got grand kids that age! I love it!
Reply:No way live life and who cares what others think is it really gonna matter in the future.
Reply:no, i don't think you should be ashamed at all!!!! that's great that you are wanting to be adventurous and learn something new.
Reply:This lady at my work is just learning to roller blade she in her late 50's early 60's. I know how but I am not very good. I tend to fall and be very shaky. and I'm 20

develop skin cancer
