Strap on the skates and go for a spin. If necessary buy yourself the knee and elbow pads and a helmet. You'll get the hang of it once you do it.

Well, I can't really explain. It's something you have to practice. Go to a roller rink with a friend, one that won't laugh, and give it a try.
